Matinée “Vorhang Auf!” – playing Major van Bett
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, I had the honor of performing in a matinee concert together with the Neeber-Schuler Choir under the direction of Helmut Bartel.
End of 2023 I left my past life as an IT professional behind to follow my dream of becoming an opera singer. Today I am a bachelor student for singing at HfMDK Frankfurt. Composers like Mozart, Wagner or Mahler shaped my perception of music and motivate me to continue building a classical and romantic repertoire.

Luis Gehrmann · Baritone
Baritone Luis Gehrmann is currently studying voice with Prof. Thomas Heyer at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK Frankfurt).
Born in Erbach, Germany, he gained his first stage experience as a teenager, performing leading roles in musical theatre productions, and received several young artist awards for classical singing. After initially pursuing a career in business informatics, he now appears as a soloist both in concert and on the operatic stage.
During his bachelor’s studies, he has already performed the leading role of Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen in independent opera productions. As an oratorio soloist, he has appeared in Handel’s Messiah at the Rheingau Musik Festival and appears regularly throughout the Ruhr and Rhine-Main regions in works such as Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and Rheinberger’s Der Stern von Bethlehem.
Since 2024, he has held the Deutschlandstipendium at HfMDK Frankfurt for a second term. In 2025, he was awarded the Bayreuth Scholarship by the Richard Wagner Association Wiesbaden. Further artistic inspiration has come from masterclasses with Diana Damrau and Bernd Valentin, as well as from his studies with Marina Unruh and Derrick Ballard.
In the 2026/27 season, he will make his debut at Staatstheater Mainz as Dritter brabantischer Edler in Richard Wagner’s Lohengrin.

Together with a cross-regional ensemble of students and graduates from the music academies in Frankfurt, Leipzig, Essen and Saarbrücken, I am developing my own version of Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
In March 2025, I completed my first semester at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt.
