Together with a cross-regional ensemble of students and graduates from the music academies in Frankfurt, Leipzig, Essen, and Saarbrücken, I am developing my own version of Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
Between solo arias such as “Non siate ritrosi”, duets like “Il core vi dono,” and ensemble numbers—including the extensive finales of both acts—we embellish the work with modern German dialogues. In this way, we hope to appeal especially to a young audience and to bring opera closer to people who have had little contact with the operatic world so far.
The idea for the production comes from Rebecca di Piazza, an alumna of the HfM Saar and a singer in Bonn. Her initial concept has since grown into a complete version with its own libretto. With the first musical and staging rehearsals and an ever-growing ensemble, the dream of creating our own opera is gradually becoming reality.
In addition to the nine up-and-coming opera singers—myself included—the ensemble also features two younger actresses. Thanks to several generous sponsors, the performances will even include an orchestra, consisting of two first violins, two second violins, a cello, a harpsichord, a trumpet, a horn, a bassoon, an oboe, a clarinet, a flute, and timpani. All instruments are played by professional musicians and guided by a professional conductor.
Rehearsals are currently in full swing, and the production will celebrate its premiere on October 4, 2025, at the Augustinum Bonn. Further performances will follow on October 5, 6, and 8, 2025. Even beforehand, there will be numerous opportunities to hear excerpts from the opera at various concerts—for example, at an appetizer concert at the end of July in the chamber music hall of the Beethoven House Bonn, or at the Bonn Beethovenfest at the end of August. A concert in the Frankfurt region is also approaching: on August 23, we will present selected ensemble pieces at the open-air concert “Arien im Park” in the Bad Orb cultural park. We are also in contact with the organizers of the Opernakademie Bad Orb e.V. and would be delighted to present the full production there in the summer of 2026.
Taking on the role of Guglielmo marks my first leading role in an opera, and I am incredibly grateful for the privilege of gaining this experience with such an ensemble and on such a multifaceted stage.
